Folk On Foot Front Room Festivals

In Spring 2020 live music venues closed and many musicians faced a financial crisis as the coronavirus lockdown took effect.  Folk on Foot responded by enlisting the help of over thirty of the UK’s finest folk performers to stage two memorable and emotional Front Room Festivals.

On Easter Bank Holiday Monday April 13th and Spring Bank Holiday May 25th the artists played a series of thirty minute sets from their front rooms, streamed via our YouTube channel and Facebook page and hosted from his own front room by Matthew Bannister.   The response was overwhelming. Thousands of people rushed to donate to our fundraiser - with half the proceeds going to the charity Help Musicians and the other half divided equally between the Festival artists. The first event raised an astonishing £110,000 and the second more than £80,000. A wonderful contribution.

But the Festivals also created a potent sense of solidarity and community, showcasing the power of authentic and intimate folk music performance to soothe our souls and reflect our emotions  at a time of great fear and uncertainty. Both streams are available to watch here, so why not re-live these unique musical events?
